Cedars-Sinai C.A.R.E.S Program

The Cedars-Sinai C.A.R.E.S Program has been selected by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) as a Guiding an Improved Dementia Experience (GUIDE) Model site. The program is one of 14 established programs in California and one of only two in Los Angeles chosen by CMS for the established program track. As part of the GUIDE Model, CARES offers a Medicare benefit that includes care management, expert resources, education, and social support.

Caregiver Stories

Rita is a caregiver for her father who has dementia. She speaks about the importance of persons living with dementia to remain socially connected and interact with others. Rita enrolled her father in an intergenerational program TimeOut that allowed him to hold virtual conversations weekly with a college student interested in aging. To Rita’s surprise her father connected with his college student partner and instantly felt heard.

TimeOut @UCLA is a program that trains and mobilizes college students in intergenerational service and exchange by connecting them with elders in need of companionship and family caregivers in need of respite.
